WHO?

LIPZ originally emerged from the observation of human emotions in public spaces and transport which developed (between 2015 and 2018) into an independent character that recurs in various forms in the images, graphics, and digital works, yet is somehow the same. Just like the recurring forms of certain expressions on the faces of the people I observed. The expressions of dissatisfaction, or an ambiguous disharmony, or in other words the mask of today. LIPZ are not exactly just criticism, even if this can be found in the works in the form of, among other things, criticism of consumerism. I much prefer to formulate it as a mirror, as a mirror to the outside world but also to myself.

LIPZ are like a kind of ongoing experiment for me, where I try not to force much; the repetition is not forced, it arose at some point and I let it run wherever it goes.

I've been painting and being creative for as long as
I can remember.

I am Shay Pieper and LIPZ are a part of me,
of my creative journey through a fragmented world
and a scattered mind.

Why? That's what I'm trying to find out.
